FAQs

How does counselling feel?

Most of us are not used to receiving space and time from someone who is actively listening. At first this can feel a little overwhelming (although often it’s also a huge relief).

Be assured that we will help you to feel comfortable and together we aim to build a trusting, respectful relationship which facilitates your emotional growth and resilience.

What can I talk about?

The time is yours to use as you wish; to talk about and explore whatever feels important to you at the time.

What is psychodynamic counselling?

It is a form of counselling that enables you to better understand the way you relate to people, to the world and to yourself and so you develop a more satisfying, constructive and sustainable way of living.

What is the length of a session?

All sessions are 50 minutes long.

What is the cost?

Each session costs £50 - £60.

Payment is by cash or card after each session.

Whilst every effort is made to rearrange appointments in the event of ill health or unforeseen circumstances this is not always possible. All missed appointments are payable at the usual fee.

How often are the sessions?

We recommend weekly sessions as most beneficial.

How long does counselling take?

We offer both open ended and time limited counselling to suit your requirements. Sessions usually cease by mutual arrangement.

Can I refer a young person to counselling?

Yes. However it is only beneficial if they are committed to doing the work themselves.
